Acupuncture within physiotherapy is used as a tool to manage pain.
Common conditions treated with acupuncture are:
- Low back pain and neck pain
- Nerve pain such as sciatica
- Joint pain
- Osteoarthritis of the knee
- Tendon injuries such as tennis elbow
- Headaches and migraines
Our physiotherapists use sterile single-use stainless steel needles and are accredited to the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.
Acupuncture is available on the NHS and research has found acupuncture to be effective in the treatment for headaches, osteoarthritis of the knee, back and neck pain, but availability on the NHS is very limited and most patients pay for private treatment.
More information about acupuncture can be found on the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists website.
