Data-Driven Recovery with Force Plates

Take the Guesswork Out of Your Performance

In elite sports, recovery isn’t based on how a player “feels”—it’s based on objective data. At The Physiotherapy Centre, we use ForceDecks force plate technology to bring that same professional standard to your rehabilitation.

Force plates are essentially ultra-sensitive scales that measure the “Ground Reaction Force” you produce during movement. They allow us to see what the naked eye cannot: exactly how you are loading your joints, absorbing impact, and where subtle imbalances are hiding.

Why We Use Force Plates

Detecting Asymmetry

Following an injury, it’s common to subconsciously “favour” one side. Our plates identify these strength imbalances between your left and right limbs to the nearest millimetre, ensuring your rehab targets the weaker side.

We use jump and squat tests to measure your “Rate of Force Development”—how quickly your muscles can generate power. This is vital for athletes returning to sprinting or jumping.

Because the data is numerical, we can track your recovery with 100% accuracy. We can show you exactly how much stronger you’ve become since your last session.

Instead of guessing if your knee or ankle is “ready,” we use data-driven benchmarks to ensure you can safely handle the demands of your sport before you return to the pitch.

What to Expect

During your Sports Therapy session, your clinician may ask you to perform a series of simple movements on the plates:

Honesty in Data

We believe in realistic expectations. Numbers don’t lie, and sometimes they show that a recovery is taking a little longer than you might feel.

Clinical Note:

It is very common to feel “pain-free” before your muscles have actually regained their full power and symmetry.

Our force plates often reveal that a limb is still only at 70% strength, even when the pain has gone. By using this technology, we ensure you don’t return to full activity too early, significantly reducing your risk of a “setback” or re-injury. We use the data to tell you the truth about your body’s readiness, keeping your long-term health as our absolute priority.
